Clean water for school in Congo

In November we finished the first well in the Republic of Congo. The well is operated by solar energy, and our goal is that all water projects in the Congo will be powered by renewable energy.

The school of Kintelle is the first of 16 schools in the Congo that Yme in collaboration with
Schools in Cooperation SIS /ECCO will provide clean water for.

Late in the afternoon, Yme leader Geir Ommundsen assambled the first 6 solar panels of a total of 15. Despite the low sun, the water immediately began to flow out of the borehole. Ca 1000 liters of fresh, clean water per hour. Five minutes later, people began to line up with buckets to fetch water. Within fifteen minutes the place was crowded with people.

This well is now delivering 40 to 50 000 liters of water a day. Enough to provide water for more than a thousand people!

In 2012 we will buy our own drilling rig and start the project of drilling wells for all 16 schools.
